KYLE, TX, November 05, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Master John Olds has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. He has studied under such notable practitioners as Tadashi Yamashita, Duke Roufus, and Mike Swain, and has accrued countless metals at all levels of play, including national and international championships.
Master Olds began his journey in taekwondo, a Korean martial art, at the age of five. Over his more than thirty years of practice, he has branched out to study numerous other disciplines, such as karate, judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, mauy thai, and others. He began assisting with classes at twelve years old. By the time he was fifteen, he was leading the floor as a paid instructor. When he was eighteen years old, he started his own program in college, which eventually lead to his first professional school, Rising Phoenix Taekwondo.
After several visits to Korea to train with some of the best teams in the world, he eventually moved to the birthplace of taekwondo to continue his training while teaching at Seungil Academy and working for the Jeollabuk-do Taekwondo Association. While living aboard Master Olds trained at Jeonju University, Vision University, and Korea National Sports University. He also trained with the Korean National Team.
Some years later, he moved back to the states to start his second school, Rising Phoenix Martial Arts in the historic, downtown Kyle, Texas. In a few short years, his school has become one of the leading martial arts academies in the area with a large student body in all age groups, including preschoolers, teens, adults, and seniors.
In addition to his accomplishments as a teacher, competitor, and entrepreneur, Master Olds is also noted as the founder of Oneway, a martial art that bridges the divide between traditional martial arts and mixed martial arts. The discipline stays true to the leadership life skills that are inherent in traditional martial arts, such as respect and discipline, while allowing more progressive techniques and theories to penetrate the curriculum. Oneway practitioners strive to study the martial arts as a whole, learning everything from kicking and punching to sweeps, throws, and submissions. No technique is beyond the scope—whether it is for demonstration or requires an ancient or modern weapon. Furthermore, Oneway creates a complete life pathway for its practitioners. It has a program for every age group, including very young children and senior adults.
