Mrs. Robinson is a registered nurse, community organizer and the founder of Pride Among Daughters and Sisters, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing feminine hygiene products to women and girls experiencing homelessness and poverty. The organization was established in 2012, when her daughter retold the story of a speaker from her college who had drawn attention to the need for donations of sanitary pads, tampons and toiletry products to homeless women, shelters and outreach programs. Addressing period poverty and dedicated to ensuring that all women are able to meet their personal hygiene needs with dignity, regardless of access or socioeconomic status, Mrs. Robinson founded Pride Among Daughters and Sisters in 2013 in order to collect and distribute feminine products and personal protective essentials by partnering with area homeless shelters, transitional housing facilities and substance abuse treatment programs.
For more than 35 years, Mrs. Robinson has excelled as a registered nurse and healthcare case manager. As a childhood burn survivor, many of her earliest memories were of the nurses who cared for her after surgeries and during a long hospital stay, and she aspired to a career in medicine from a young age. She attended the Metropolitan General Hospital School of Nursing from 1982-1984 and completed an Associate of Arts and earned a Registered Nursing degree from Cuyahoga Community College in 1985. Mrs. Robinson started her career and got her foundation in Medical-Surgical Nursing at the inner-city hospital St. Lukes Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She went on to work for Kethley House at Benjamin Rose Institute as a staff nurse and Nurse Manager. After their doors closed Mrs. Robinson went to work for McGregor Nursing Facility before transitioning into leadership roles as an MDS Coordinator for Kindred Healthcare in 2010, departing in 2016 to accept her current role as an RN Case Manager for CareSource.
Mrs. Robinson is a member of the IX Cohort of the Neighborhood Leadership Development Program, a community organizer training and support program designed to empower Cleveland residents with skills that can help build the region into a safe and sustainable home for all residents. She was nominated for a 2016 Isaiah Jewish Award for her work with Pride Among Daughters and Sisters, and she continues to expand her humanitarian efforts through partnerships with Neighborhood Connections. She is a member of National Action Network. She is the author of "Homeless Al: A Little Boy's Story," a book for young readers available on Amazon, and is currently working on a follow-up. Mrs. Robinson attributes her success to her faith in God and aspires constantly to improve the lives of those around her wherever possible.
