MOREE, AUSTRALIA, November 11, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Debbie M. Key has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After serving as a land worker on her husband's farm for many years, Ms. Key began to take care of her mother-in-law after she fell ill. Upon her mother-in-law's passing, she decided to return to school and pursue a career in nursing. Presently, Ms. Key excels as a registered nurse and midwife with New England Area Health Service, acting nurse unit manager with Moree Community Health, a registered nurse and midwife with Healthcare Australia and an Aboriginal Maternal Infants Health Service Clinical Midwife with HNE Community Health.
Of Aboriginal descent herself, Ms. Key works closely with women having Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander babies in the area, providing necessary support and antenatal and postnatal education for pregnant women throughout the course of their journeys. Additionally, she coordinates outreach clinics in Collarenebri and Mungindi to provide maternity care to women who would otherwise have to travel long distances for treatment. Her main goal is to improve health outcomes of the women and babies of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Though her career has been suffused with highlights, Ms. Key is especially proud to have provided antenatal classes for women having Indigenous babies, helping to reduce the smoking rate in pregnant women and participating in contraception initiatives that have decreased teen pregnancy rates.
An expert in her field, Ms. Key has furthered her healthcare expertise through postgraduate coursework, including a certification in immunization for health practitioners, which she earned in 2020 through the Australian College of Nursing. In light of her outstanding body of work, she has been nominated several times for the Midwife of the Year Award and been interviewed on the radio. In the near future, Ms. Key aspires to enter semi-retirement, traveling in her caravan around Australia and serving as a registered nurse/midwife/immunizer wherever they stop.
