CLEVELAND, OH, November 13, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thomas Gill has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Understanding the value of education, Thomas Gill earned a Bachelor of Arts in theology, international studies and Spanish from Saint Louis University and a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from Harvard Kennedy School. Prior to returning to his hometown of Cleveland, Tom also worked for the Casa de la Solidaridad, a program of Santa Clara University, in El Salvador. He began his career as the director of development at Urban Community School in 2010. After seven years, Mr. Gill became president of Urban Community School. Over the years, he has overseen all aspects of the school, from academic leadership to fundraising and facilities. He has also helped direct campus expansion to provide more families with a greater range of services in addition to a high-quality education.
Throughout his career, Mr. Gill is most proud of bringing a series of nonprofit organizations to the campus. As a respected voice, he previously served as a contributor for the Harvard Kennedy School Review. For his efforts in the field, he received the Hispanic Alliance Leadership Award, the Neighborhood Improvement Award from the Detroit-Shoreway Community Development Organization, the Presidential Award from Ohio City Incorporated, and the Fresh Innovator Award from the Cleveland Leadership Center. Mr. Gill has attributed his professional success to his commitment to achieving his goal of providing educational opportunities for all kids. He has also been grateful for a diligent staff who share in the desire to achieve their mission.
Mr. Gill has maintained civic affiliation with MetroHealth, the House of Champions, Urban Squash Cleveland, The Refugee Response, U.S. Lacrosse, Beaumont High School, and Near West Theatre. Looking toward the future, he plans to grow his campus and connect with other nonprofit organizations in order to increase the impact of Urban Community School. Ultimately, Mr. Gill hopes to remain in his current position and further the school's mission.
