From a young age, Dr. Haider has harbored an interest in first aid and trauma management. He subsequently earned a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the Dow University of Health Sciences in Pakistan before moving to the United States. He eventually began researching concussions and brain trauma before obtaining a Doctor of Philosophy in neuroscience from the University at Buffalo.
After relocating from Pakistan, Dr. Haider worked at the University at Buffalo's Concussion Management Clinic and Research Center for more than five years. He currently excels as the assistant director of research at the aforementioned Concussion Management Clinic and Research Center and an assistant professor at the University at Buffalo Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine. Over the years, Dr. Haider has been incredibly proud of his work on safe implementation of early exercise treatment for concussions.
Recently, Dr. Haider's team published the first trial proving early, graded aerobic exercise to improve outcomes from a concussion. For his research efforts throughout his career, his work is funded through several grants from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and the U.S. Department of Defense. As a dedicated medical professional, Dr. Haider notably had to overcome many obstacles while simultaneously battling multiple sclerosis.
Dr. Haider maintains his civic and professional affiliation with the American Statistical Association, the Society for Neuroscience, the American Medical Association, as well as the Seven Seas Sailing Association of Buffalo, NY. He has attributed his exceptional success to his drive to work and overcome his disability. Looking toward the future, he plans to continue trailblazing in concussion-related research. Dr. Haider ultimately hopes to become a leader in concussion and cerebral blood flow research.
