Dr. Galatianos is a Professor Emeritus of computer science and a real estate developer, with a career spanning nearly four decades of business and technology leadership. Prior to beginning his career, he served as a member of the Greek Air Force, where he received specialist training in Radar Engineering. After completing his military service, he attended the Athens Higher School of Electronics from where he got the degree of Electronics Engineer, then he became an operations manager for Athens-based Solomos Business Machines, where he would remain until relocating to the United States in 1973. Dr. Galatianos earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the New York Institute of Technology in 1974, and went on to get a Master of Science in Computer Science from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey, and then a Master in Systems Engineering degree at Columbia University. He was bestowed with a Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science in 1986 from New York Polytechnic University.
While completing his postgraduate studies, Dr. Galatianos consulted for Universal Computer Centers of New York City. He contributed two years as a technical director for Computer Dynamics Corporation before accepting an Associate Professor position with the State University of New York, College at Old Westbury, where he would teach until 1993, when he was named as the Chair of the department of computer science. Dr. Galatianos concurrently served as a financial systems manager for Singer's electronic systems division from 1984 to 1987. In 1988, he launched Advanced Computer Consulting International, an advanced technology consulting firm that he would operate until 2004.
Dr. Galatianos was granted the distinguished title of a Professor Emeritus by the State University of New York in 2001, having accrued more than 20 years of administrative and academic excellence. Presently, he is focused on his role as the president of ACCI Properties, a portfolio of multi-family residential properties throughout New York and New Jersey. Dr. Galatianos has contributed to numerous professional journal articles and technical papers, and is the author of such books as "Principles of Software Engineering" and "Principles of Database Systems." He considers his research and consulting work to be the most rewarding aspect of his career, and emphasizes the transformative potential that accessible technologies have to educate and bring people together. Dr. Galatianos has been a representative to the Presidential Task Force and a member of the Greater Whitestone Taxpayers Civic Association since the 1980s, and is active in the New York City Police Athletic League.
Looking toward the future, Dr. Galatianos hopes to travel throughout the world and experience as many different cultures and countries as possible. In a lifetime suffused with hard work, the ability to travel for leisure would be the culmination of all his labors. When he is not consulting or managing his property portfolio, Dr. Galatianos enjoys hunting, music appreciation and spending quality time with his wife Katerina and his children, Athanassios and Deborah, and his grandchildren, Dominic Constantine and Melina.
