SANTA CRUZ, CA, November 16, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Donald M. Wiberg has been included in Marquis Who's Who. During the mid-1960s, Dr. Wiberg began his professional career as a senior design engineer with Convair Astronautics. After a year, he joined the University of California Los Angeles working up to professor of electrical engineering. Between the 1960s and 2001, he held a number of roles with the university, including as a professor of anesthesiology and a vice chairperson of the department of electrical engineering. After retirement from UCLA, he became a research professor with the Center for Adaptive Optics at the University of California Santa Cruz. He was bestowed the distinguished title Edward A. Dickson Emeritus Professor on behalf of the Department of Electrical Engineering. Over the years, Dr. Wiberg also honed his expertise in the field as a consultant and visiting professor for the German Research Organization for Air and Space Flight, the department of electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Newcastle, the University of Maryland, College Park and Ajou University.
His most notable achievements include being named a Life Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and serving as Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Control, as well as an IEEE Congressional Fellow in the office of Senator Harkin. Dr. Wiberg served as his Legislative Assistant for Defense Appropriations, Environment, Energy, Arms Control and Veteran's Affairs.
A registered professional engineer in the state of California, Dr. Wiberg holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy in engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 1959, 1960 and 1965 respectively. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Physiological Society, where he was an associate editor for the Modeling Methodology Forum between 1980 and 1991. Devoted to his community, Dr. Wiberg has contributed as a member of the advisory board for Parthenia School in Los Angeles.
With a plethora of knowledge at his disposal, Dr. Wiberg authored "State Space and Linear Systems" in 1971 and co-edited "Regulation of Breathing" in the early-1980s. In light of his professional achievements, he was recognized as a Senior NATO research fellow and two senior Fulbright fellowships during the 1970s. More recently, he was acknowledged with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and numerous features in professional publications, such as Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Outside of his vocational circles, Dr. Wiberg enjoys such diversions as reading up on history, listening to classical music and playing beach volleyball.
