Throughout this period, she also parleyed her extensive knowledge to students as an adjunct professor at Atlantic Cape Community College between 2009 and 2010. Having initially worked as a fore caddy at the Seaview Marriot Restaurant and Golf Course in 1998, Ms. Southrey took her first steps into the field as a registered dietetic technician at the Absecon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center from 1999 to 2000.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Southrey sought a formal education at Atlantic Cape Community College, where she undertook general coursework in 1997. Following her pivot toward the study of dietetics, she transferred to Camden Community College, from which she attained an Associate of Applied Science in 1999. Ms. Southrey concluded her academic efforts at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, having earned a Bachelor of Science in dietetics in 2008.
Well regarded for her indelible contributions to her area of expertise, Ms. Southrey has been the recipient of numerous accolades throughout the course of her career. In addition to receiving an Academic Excellence Award from Camden County College in 1999, she was also bestowed with an ICARE Award in 2019, and a Partners in Caring Excellence Award during the same year. Moreover, during her employment with the Shore Medical Center, she was recognized as an Employee of the Month. Prolifically active in her membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the American Association of Diabetes Educators, Ms. Southrey credits her standout success on the strong support system she has enjoyed over the years, exemplified through her loving husband and mother-in-law.
