Mr. Chiang is a professor of law at Fordham University celebrating more than 50 years of service to his students and profession. After beginning his career in Taiwan, he earned a Bachelor of Laws from National Taiwan University in 1958, and became an associate of the Yen & Lai Law Office in 1960. After relocating to the United States in 1961, he continued his education at Northwestern University, where he completed a Master of Laws during the following year. In 1965, Mr. Chiang completed a Doctor of Jurisprudence at the University of Chicago, and began working as a research associate of Harvard University and an editor for the Lawyers Cooperative Publishing Company.
Mr. Chiang accepted an assistant professorship at the University of Georgia School of Law in 1967, departing in 1972 to join Fordham University as a professor, where he has since risen to become the president of the Law Faculty Union in 2000. He has also been invited to serve as a visiting faculty at such global institutions as Chuo University in Tokyo. Extensively published, Mr. Chiang has contributed numerous articles and case analyses to professional journals, and is the author of "The One-China Policy: State, Sovereignty and Taiwan's Legal Status." He notes that his work has been cited throughout the world, with one article reaching more than 620 full-text downloads from 68 countries, an anomaly in his field of scholarship.
Mr. Chiang has remained active in international finance throughout his career, serving as a past president and a board member of the Taiwan Merchants Association of New York until the late 1990s, and as the vice chairperson and legal consultant to the Asia Bank for much of the 1980s. He has served terms as the president and board member of NAPTA, and has represented American lawyers to Russia and China as a delegate with People to People International. In recognition of his legal excellence, Mr. Chiang has been inducted into the Order of the Coif, and was presented with a 20th Century Achievement Award from the International Biographical Centre, in addition to his inclusion in more than 25 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in Finance and Business. In the coming years, he looks forward to continuing to teach, write, and devote further time to sking, a lifelong hobby.
