Drawing upon a lifelong love of music, Ms. Nichols-Nikkolos excels as the founder and director of the music department at The Baccalaureate School for Global Education. It is in this capacity that she utilizes her musical and educational expertise as an educator and performer to teach the curriculum pertaining to the International Baccalaureate 'Middle Years Program'. In addition to teaching, conducting and serving as the accompanist, she is the arts liaison and coordinates the musical concerts for the aforementioned institution. Alongside her primary endeavors with the Baccalaureate School for Global Education, Ms. Nichols-Nikkolos also teaches private piano and vocal lessons.
A classical opera singer whose love of music began as a young woman, Ms. Nichols-Nikkolos gained valuable expertise in musical education as an Assistant Professor of Voice at New York University, where she taught at the Steinhardt School of Education as an Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera on the adjunct faculty for twenty years. Her responsibilities included directing The New York University Opera Workshop which she founded and subsequently taught through the New York University's abroad program in Montevarchi, Italy. In addition to teaching classical voice and musical theater majors in the music department, she also taught drama majors from undergraduate to doctoral levels enrolled in the NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Ms. Nichols-Nikkolos is incredibly proud of her European debut with the Zurich Opera Studio in Zurich, Switzerland, as well as her debut at Alice Tully Hall. Most notable were her orchestral performances including being soprano soloist with the Colonial Symphony of New Jersey in Shostakovich's 14th Symphony, which is now on record in the Library of Congress "America in Concert, program #218.
Before embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Nichols-Nikkolos earned a Bachelor of Music in Voice and Opera from the esteemed Indiana University School of Music in 1976 and a Master of Music in Voice and Opera from the Manhattan School of Music in 1979. In order to remain aware of ongoing changes in her many interests, she is affiliated with Alpha Omega Pi and PEO International, a philanthropic educational organization. During her spare time, she contributes to her community by singing many concerts at the Sunnyside Community Center, at libraries and many venues throughout the United States through various charity-run concerts. Looking ahead, Ms. Nichols-Nikkolos intends to continue to teach and sing at home and abroad.
