BEDMINSTER, NJ, November 19, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Ernest Dorchester Buff with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Buff celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Buff is an esteemed engineer and intellectual property attorney with more than 50 years of expertise in copyright, trademark and patent law bolstered by his background in materials research and development. He earned a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Syracuse University before obtaining a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1969 at the advice of his father-in-law, who recognized his incisive communication style and broad focus on technological advances. Mr. Buff strives to work with creators to help protect their innovations, allowing them to focus on building tools that have the potential to change the world.
Mr. Buff dedicated the first 30 years of his career to Honeywell, which had been doing business as Allied Chemical. His earliest endeavors in patent law included work on behalf of Polaroid, then a category-leading research and development innovator. Working with Polaroid helped cement his approach to intellectual property law, as Polaroid products promised consumers instant gratification, a sense of wonder and the ability to make a piece of next generation technology a part of their lives. The uniqueness and personal relationships that customers forged with their products was key to their success, and Mr. Buff has built his intellectual property practice on preserving that feeling.
Mr. Buff considers the highlight of his career to have been a successful patent filing for a novel metallic compound that many considered to be "unpatentable," believing it to represent a perfect example of a potentially life changing product. Before becoming the managing partner of Ernest D. Buff & Associates in 2001, he practiced law with Riker Danzig Scherer Hyland & Peretti LLP. Moreover, Mr. Buff is a member of the President's Advisory Council for Small Business, and remains active with the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Patent Bar Association.
In recognition of his outstanding career record of practice, Mr. Buff was honored as the Attorney of the Month by The National Firm in 2019. Likewise, he has been presented with a Chicago Tribune Silver Medal Award and a William Berry Award. Mr. Buff plans to continue his work with Ernest D. Buff & Associates for as long as he is able, and enjoys devoting his spare time to playing golf, tennis and orchestral music.
