CHICAGO, IL, November 20, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Javier Rodriguez Jr. has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Coming of age in Laredo, Texas, a small city on the border of the United States and Mexico, Mr. Rodriguez began his career in law after working as a summer law clerk for a local law firm at the behest of his mother and father – an opportunity that, no doubt, sparked his interest in pursuing a career within the field. Upon graduating from high school in 2010, he was admitted to Evangel University, where he was twice elected to serve as the president of the Evangel Student Government Association. Over the course of his undergraduate studies, Mr. Rodriguez would occasionally return to Laredo, where he would continue to serve as a summer law clerk at the law offices of Person, Whitworth, Borchers & Morales, LLP before, ultimately, receiving his Bachelor of Science in Social Science in 2014.
Upon receiving an Edward T. Lee scholarship in the amount of full tuition from the UIC John Marshall Law School (formerly known as The John Marshall Law School), Mr. Rodriguez began his pursuit of a Juris Doctor degree in 2015, where he had the distinct pleasure of serving within the following extracurricular organizations: (1) THE JOHN MARSHALL LAW REVIEW; (2) The John Marshall Law School's Moot Court Honors Council; and (3) Student Bar Association of The John Marshall Law School. Additionally, Mr. Rodriguez earned a great deal of practical knowledge and experience as a result of having worked with the following organizations as a law student: (1) the International Human Rights Clinic at The John Marshall Law School; (2) the American Bar Association's Commission on Hispanic Legal Rights and Responsibilities; and (3) the Illinois Office of the State's Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor. In 2018, Mr. Rodriguez graduated with his Juris Doctor degree.
Upon being admitted to practice law within the State of Illinois, Mr. Rodriguez obtained his first position as an attorney with the law offices of O'Hagan Meyer in Chicago, Illinois, where he served as a contract attorney before accepting a position as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Clare Elizabeth McWilliams at the Circuit Court of Cook County. Over the course of his work in this capacity, Mr. Rodriguez has assisted in the drafting of numerous memorandum opinions and orders for several members of the Illinois judiciary, in addition to assisting in the management and coordination of anywhere between 400 to 500 rotating matters on the "J1" Asbestos Litigation Calendar at the Circuit Court of Cook County. More recently (i.e., since the onset of the COVID-19 and related coronavirus pandemic), Mr. Rodriguez has taken on the additional responsibility of serving as Judge McWilliams' immediate point of contact for all matters pending on this particular docket.
Ever dedicated to remaining aware of ongoing changes in the field, Mr. Rodriguez aligns himself with various bar associations, including the following: (1) the Chicago Bar Association; (2) the Illinois State Bar Association; and (3) Hispanic National Bar Association. Though his career is still on the rise, he has already been acknowledged for his work on several occasions, including having previously been awarded the Silver Shield Award from Evangel University in 2013 and having been included within the Dean's List at The John Marshall Law School.
Within the next five to ten years, Mr. Rodriguez intends on fostering a reputation in the legal community such that a position on the bench or within public office might very well be within the realm of possibility. In any event, he intends on effecting substantial change within his community in the coming years and, particularly, for the benefit of those who have historically been marginalized or disenfranchised in this country. To quote the Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes, a personal hero of his, "Justice is about making sure that being polite is not the same thing as being quiet. In fact, oftentimes the most righteous thing you can do is shake the table."
