Specializing in labor and employment law, he is active as a member of the labor and employment practice group, boasts a reputation for excellence for litigating in both state and federal courts and administrative agencies and has extensive expertise handling the oversight of collective bargaining negotiations between employers and employees. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Pigsley gained expertise in human resources, skills that he has since been able to utilize in his role today.
Mr. Pigsley's accomplished career began to take shape in 1981 as a clerk and executive director for the Nebraska Commission of Industrial Relations, a state agency in Lincoln. He subsequently worked as an associate on behalf of two local firms. In 1991, Mr. Pigsley became a shareholder at Harding & Ogborn in Lincoln. He served in the same capacity with Harding, Shultz & Downs between 1996 and 2006 and Harding & Shultz from 2007 until 2015.
As a leading authority in his field, Mr. Pigsley had the opportunity to serve as a chapter editor of BNA's The Fair Labor Standards Act. He was also a chapter contributor of Independent Contractor of the State by State Legal Guide by Wiley Law Publications and is a monthly contributor to Lincoln Independent Business Association's News & Views membership magazine, the Iowa-Nebraska Equipment Dealers Association's The Retailer membership magazine, and the Lincoln Human Resource Management Association's membership magazine. Blending his legal expertise with his passion for community work, Mr. Pigsley distinguishes himself as a Jurisprudence and Laws committee member of Shriners International since 2019 and elected a Divan Member of Sesostris Shrine. Affiliated with several other local organizations, he has also been active in various capacities for the Scottish Rite Valley of Lincoln and was conferred by the Supreme Council as a 32nd degree Knight Commander of the Court of Honor.
Mr. Pigsley obtained a bachelor's and law degree at the University of Nebraska in 1978 and 1981, respectively. He has been admitted to practice by the Nebraska and Iowa Bar Associations, the U.S. District Court of Nebraska and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Among his industry-related memberships, Mr. Pigsley is most notably an elected Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. He is also a former chairperson of the labor relations and employment law section of the Nebraska Bar Association and a member of the American Bar Association as well.
Consistently chosen as a Great Plains Super Lawyer in Employment and Labor Law, Mr. Pigsley has also been listed among America's Most Honored Professionals in the Top 1% by the American Registry numerous times, to Chambers USA for Labor and Employment Law, and was recently selected as a Best Lawyers in Labor Law-Management in 2021 as Lawyer of the Year.
