Supported by more than 25 years of clinical expertise in psychology and mental health services, Dr. Ray has garnered a laudable reputation as a psychologist for Kids for the Future Inc., a position he has held for a decade. Kids for the Future is located in five counties throughout the northeast region of Arkansas, and is a family-owned and operated business. Established more than 20 years ago, the organization has served thousands of families with pediatric health care needs, all within a nurturing and stress-free environment. He is also a psychological examiner with KFF-EIDT, providing testing and evaluation of children to attend the program, a position held since 2016.
Concurrent to this position, Dr. Ray has also been an on-call clinical coordinator, as well as a noted instructor at Southern Arkansas University. Involved civically within his local community, he was president and vice president of the board of trustees of the Albion Library. He was Choir Director for Shilohm Baptist Church in Auburn Hills, MI from 1981 to 1983 where he also taught junior high Sunday school classes. Dr. Ray was a member of the Missions Board for Albion Baptist Church, Albion, MI from 1994 to 1997, and a trustee from 1995 to 1997. He was a member of the Board for Pittsburg County CASA, in McAlester, OK from 2001 to 2004. Additionally, he served as Chairman of the Albion Area Republicans from 1995 to 1997 and received recognition as one of the top 100 Republicans in Michigan by Governor John Engler in 1995. Lastly, he was Chairman of the Cross County Republicans of Arkansas from 2010 to 2016. Dr. Ray had also been active within the deaf and hard-of-hearing community in Michigan.
Drawing upon numerous academic degrees, Dr. Ray holds an Associate of Arts from the Jackson Business Institute in Michigan. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Spring Arbor University. Studying further, he received a Master of Science in human resources and clinical counseling from East Central University in Oklahoma. Dr. Ray concluded his academic efforts at Waldon University, from which he attained a Doctor of Philosophy in academic psychology.
Dr. Ray has maintained his professional affiliation with myriad organizations throughout his illustrious career, including the National Board of Certified Counselors and the National Association of Social Workers. He was also the president of the Arkansas Counseling Association between 2010 and 2013 and was a president and founding member of the Arkansas Licensed Counselors Association from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Ray attributes his profound success to his own sense of determination and perseverance amid much struggle.
To attest to his success, Dr. Ray has received a plethora of accolades. In 2013, he was the recipient of the Roger Herring Research Award in 2013 from ArCA for research in the association and development of gang member affiliation due to incarceration in the Federal Prison System. Earlier in his career, Life Ways bestowed him with a Sterling Leadership Award in 1994 and a Gold Leadership Award for Quality Improvement in 1995. Looking toward the future, Dr. Ray intends to continue in his practice and possibly delve into academia as a professor.
