LINCOLN, NE, November 27, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Stephen Scott Gealy with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Gealy celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leveraging nearly four decades of experience as a civil trial lawyer, Mr. Gealy has been associated with Baylor Evnen, LLP since his graduation from law school. Named as a partner in the firm upon completion of his obligatory period as an associate attorney, he served the firm as a partner until he took of counsel status effective January 1, 2020. An esteemed trial attorney whose practice has focused on litigation, personal injury defense, transportation law, products liability and mediation, Mr. Gealy has appeared before state and federal courts, seeing well over 125 trials to verdict. In addition to his tenure with Baylor Evnen, in early 2020 he established Gealy Mediations, LLC. Through this entity he is routinely retained by other trial lawyers to utilize his wealth of civil trial experience as a mediator of civil disputes. A strong believer in the mediation process, Mr. Gealy strives to control costs for his clients by limiting the litigation process with early case resolution.
Apart from his time in the courtroom and as a mediator, Mr. Gealy devoted over two decades to academia in his role as Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Nebraska College of Law between 1996 and 2020, during which time he taught courses in pretrial litigation to hundreds of students. Prior to becoming a lawyer, he served as a Nebraska public school teacher from 1974 to 1980. A visionary leader behind numerous community initiatives, Mr. Gealy has been involved with the Cornhusker Council, Boy Scouts of America as a member of its executive board and its advisory board since 1987 and as its president from 1993 to 1995. He has worked as a track and field official at the Nebraska State High School Track & Field Championships continually since 1981, and is a Master Mason with Lincoln Lodge No. 19 of the A.F.&A.M., and a member of the Sesostris Shrine.
After he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hastings College in 1974, Mr. Gealy earned a Master of Arts in public school administration from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 1979. He was subsequently accepted to the University of Nebraska College of Law, where he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence in December, 1982. Eminently qualified in his field, Mr. Gealy has been admitted to practice law in the courts of the State of Nebraska, the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mr. Gealy is also a lifetime Fellow of the Foundation of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a lifetime Fellow and member of the board directors of the Nebraska State Bar Foundation, a Diplomate member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, and an Emeritus Fellow of both the International Society of Barristers and the Litigation Counsel of America. Mr. Gealy also maintains active membership in the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Trucking Industry Defense Association, the Nebraska Defense Counsel Association (of which he was a director for many years and president in 1992 and 1993), the Nebraska State Bar Association (where he is a current member of the House of Delegates) and the Lincoln and Omaha Bar Associations. Celebrated for his continued success, Mr. Gealy was recognized with the DRI State Leadership Award in 1999. Additionally, he was honored at the Nebraska Defense Counsel Association's annual meeting in 2019 as a co-recipient with one of his longtime Baylor Evnen partners of the Master Emeritus Award. Mr. Gealy has been continuously listed in Great Plains Super Lawyers each year since 2007, has been listed in Corporate Counsel magazine's Top Rated Lawyers in Transportation Law and maintains an AV Preeminent Rating with Martindale-Hubbell.
