A passionate, cybersecurity thought leader, Dr. Scholl currently serves as Cybersecurity Program Director and Associate Teaching Professor at Quinnipiac University. He previously founded the cybersecurity program at Lipscomb University in Nashville. He has taught cybersecurity and electrical engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University, now known as NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and Vanderbilt University School of Engineering. Additionally, Dr. Scholl channels his considerable expertise into consulting work as the President of the Monarch Information Networks, through which he enables business clients to mitigate risk while implementing new business initiatives and managing costs.
Prior to his current positions, Dr. Scholl found success in industrial and scientific positions, with Nissan North America, Codenoll Technology Corporation, Optical Information Systems (OIS) and Rockwell International. As co-founder of Codenoll and OIS, Dr. Scholl was a pioneer in the field of fiber optic-based computer networks. Dr. Scholl also retains his professional alignment as Senior Member, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and member of SIM (Society for Information Management), ISSA (Information Systems Security Association) and ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association). He led the IEEE Working Group that first standardized ethernet over optical fiber, a technology now used worldwide.
Dr. Scholl earned a bachelor's degree in 1969 from Cornell University and a PhD in electrical engineering in 1976. He has kept up to date with recent changes in computing technology and cybersecurity by obtaining Azure and AWS cloud certifications, an NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors) Cybersecurity Certificate and an Internet Law certificate from Harvard. He is active in promoting cloud technologies for education and serves as an AWS Educate Cloud Ambassador. Dr. Scholl has authored 13 patents and over 70 technical presentations and publications. He has served as a technical expert in several high-profile litigation matters.
In a career filled with highlights, Dr. Scholl is incredibly proud of founding the cybersecurity program at Quinnipiac University and establishing two ground-breaking businesses: Optical Information Systems and Codenoll Technical Corporation. In the coming years, he intends to build on his educational and industrial experience to facilitate better cybersecurity by educating and training the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
