After serving as a shareholder and president of MacLean Holloway Doherty & Sheehan, P.C., Mr. Holloway took on the role of senior counsel. Throughout his tenure with the firm, he has successfully tried cases in the areas of shareholder derivative actions, lender liability, trade regulation and consumer protection matters, land use, commercial and banking transaction issues, products liability and employment law, among other areas of expertise. Backed by more than 47 years of legal expertise, he is frequently appointed through the courts to serve as a mediator and arbitrator.
In pursuit of his career, Mr. Holloway earned a Bachelor of Arts from Amherst College and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Boston University School of Law. Upon graduating in 1973, he was admitted to practice to the Massachusetts Bar. Over the years, he has also been licensed to practice through the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Dedicated to remaining aware of ongoing changes in the field, Mr. Holloway has aligned himself with a number of organizations, including the Essex County Bar Association and the judicial administration council, ethics committee, civil litigation council, and the judicial administration council through the Massachusetts Bar Association. He has served as President of both the Essex County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association. Outside of his work, he continually gave back to his community as a member of the Topsfield Board of Health, director of the Topsfield Athletic Association, an elected member of the Masconomet Regional School Committee, and as founding member and president of the Hospice of the North Shore.
Due to his considerable expertise, Mr. Holloway served on the board of editors for Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, where he remains an emeritus member. Additionally, he has judged moot court arguments on a consistent basis for Boston University and Harvard University, and written several articles for the Journal of the Massachusetts Bar Association. In recognition of his professional achievements, he has been honored as a Massachusetts Super Lawyer and New England Super Lawyer, and received an AV-Preeminent Rating through Martindale-Hubbell. In 1993, he was also recognized for his service to the community through the Massachusetts Bar Association with a Community Service Award. He also has served as president of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Essex County Bar Association.
