With more than two decades of experience to her credit, Ms. Wells has been the managing shareholder of Wells Family Law PC since 2019. Previously an attorney at Hunnicutt and Appleman PC between 2017 and 2019, she found additional success as a shareholder at Gutterman Griffiths PC from 2012 until 2017. Prior to that her legal career focused on taxation with an emphasis on executive compensation. Ms. Wells' brings her years of experience in complex financial transactions to the practice of family law. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, Ms. Wells co-authored "The Executive Compensation Handbook: Stock Option Awards, Restricted Stock Grants, Cash Bonuses, Incentives and Other Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation in Divorce" in 2018.
Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Ms. Wells pursued an education at the University in Washington, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 1994. Graduating with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Washington School of Law in 1997, she also obtained a Master of Laws in federal taxation from the same academic institution in 1998. To remain aware of developments in her areas of interest, Ms. Wells maintains her affiliation with such organizations as the family law section of both the Colorado Bar Association and American Bar Association, as well as the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Metro Denver Interdisciplinary Committee, the Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals and the Alliance of Professional Women, among others.
Civically engaged as well, Ms. Wells has volunteered her time at Metro Volunteer Lawyers since 2010, served on the family law committee of the Colorado Judicial Institute from 2013 to 2018 and is the immediate past president of Colorado Collaborative Divorce Professionals. Named as a Colorado Super Lawyer in the field of family law since 2015 and one of the Top 50 Colorado Women Lawyers in 2016 and 2020, she accepted a Client Distinction Award from Martindale-Hubbell in 2013 and 2015. Looking toward the future, Ms. Wells would like to expand her firm and continue to provide her clients with practical solutions to the complex problems that can arise in divorce.
