ENFIELD, CT, December 01, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor Carl R. Bozzuto with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Bozzuto celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Since 2004, Mr. Bozzuto has served as an independent consultant, leveraging nearly five decades of expertise in electric power generation systems design and combustion engineering on behalf of various clients. A graduate of the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he completed both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1970. Mr. Bozzuto subsequently returned to his studies at the Hartford Graduate Center, earning a second Master of Science in management in 1984.
Mr. Bozzuto's interest in combustion engineering arose through happy circumstance, having met the father of a friend of his, a combustion engineer, during Thanksgiving. Cognizant of the emerging field of environmental sustainability, he was encouraged to apply for a summer job at a laboratory at the older man's company, Combustion Engineering, Inc. (CE). Eagerly seizing the opportunity, Mr. Bozzuto joined the laboratory's main project in devising an early commercial SO2 scrubbing process.
In 1982, Mr. Bozzuto was appointed technologist, rising to become the director of marketing in 1984 and a general manager of fluid bed systems in 1986. He was also named as the director of Kreisinger Development Laboratories in 1988. In this capacity, he was instrumental in the development of an ultra-low NOx firing system, the TFS-2000. The technology became a key feature of modern coal-firing plant technology, with 19 of the top 20 and 39 of the top 40 coal fired units, according to EPA statistics. Although CE was first purchased by ABB in 1989 and subsequently by Alstom in 2000, Mr. Bozzuto served as the vice president of Technology from 1994 until his retirement from full time work in 2005.
Mr. Bozzuto holds patents for air pollution control and advanced energy systems, and is proud to have contributed to nearly every major innovation in the power industry throughout his career. Likewise, he has been published in industry journals, and is an honorary member of the Council of Industrial Boiler Owners. Mr. Bozzuto continues his creative legacy as a course instructor for EUCI, and a judge for the Carbon XPRIZE, an international competition that will award $20 million in prize money to the creators of potential next-generation carbon capture and utilization technologies. He plans to consult for the foreseeable future, and remains professionally affiliated with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the Combustion Institute. In his leisure time, Mr. Bozzuto enjoys fishing, war games and building model aircraft.
