EVANSTON, IL, December 03, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Thomas Klein has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Initially accepted into Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, Mr. Klein graduated in 1970 from the aforementioned university with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He then taught secondary school for six years. Subsequently, he counseled for five years at the Chicago Ridge Youth Service Bureau. Mr. Klein has a Master of Arts in Human Relations Services from Governors State University. During this time, he became a member of the Board of Directors of the Youth Network Council of Chicago and served on a steering committee of Chicago's celebration of the International Year of the Child.
A graduate of the John Marshall Law School (J.D.) and admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois since 1986, Mr. Klein has been influenced by A. James Casner's and W. Barton Leach's writing on "The Area of Responsibility of the Legal Profession" and "The Basic Qualities of a Good Lawyer." At the Office of State's Attorney, Vermilion County, Illinois (1986-1987), he worked on traffic, misdemeanor, juvenile delinquency, child abuse and neglect, and mental health cases. As a legal editor at Commerce Clearing House (1987-1991), he worked on the Federal Tax Course and the Federal Tax Manual. Mr. Klein earned a Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) degree from the John Marshall Law School of Chicago (now part of the University of Illinois at Chicago). A member of the Chicago Bar Association, Mr. Klein is a consulting attorney with a variety of experience in the law and related disciplines.
In 1993, in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the Center for the Study of the Great Plains Mr. Klein used with permission Ian McHarg's Design With Nature (1969; 1992) to discuss "laws for the landscape." He is a member of the United States Committee of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (US/ICOMOS) and has participated in meetings of the US/ICOMOS Cultural Landscapes Committee. He and his wife Nancy are members of the John Muir Society of the Sierra Club, the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States, the Sullivan Society of Landmarks Illinois, the Society of Architectural Historians, the Benjamin Marshall Society, and their Church. Beginning in 2019 and in support of Preservation Action, Mr. Klein and their son Carl (Master of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) in Historic Preservation) have participated in the annual "National Historic Preservation Advocacy Week" held in Washington, D.C.
