A talented physician whose earlier years included several noteworthy roles, he made a considerable impact as the chief of the Korean medical department at the Danaheal Premium Senior Hospital. He was also a clinical physician at Leadhead Hospital, the director of the Association of Integrative Korean Medicine, and the head researcher and clinical director at several other clinics throughout the country, dating to 2005. Specializing in the treatment of acupuncture for those suffering from various spinal and joint problems and cerebrovascular and degenerative diseases, Dr. Jo is renowned for his ability to alleviate his patients' physical and mental sufferings with Korean medicine into his daily practice. In the future, he aspires to work at a world-renowned institution in the U.S. such as Johns Hopkins University or Mayo Clinic.
Throughout the course of his career, Dr. Jo had the pleasure to attend the
82nd National Assembly Day and 2012 International Medicine Conference" held in New Taipei City, Taiwan. As a delegate member of the Association of Korean Medicine, he proposed some measures to promote friendship and cooperation between Taiwan and Korea in traditional medicine to members of Chinese Medicine Committee at Taiwan Administrative Office during the talks.
He was also a project manager at the 2016 Health Promotion Project for Elderly Citizens Using Medicine and a delegate advisor as part of the Delegation of South Korea to the 9th Global Conference on Health Promotion through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of South Korea. Among other opportunities, Dr. Jo is most proud to have participated in the 9th Global Conference on Health Promotion in Shanghai in 2016 as a member of the government delegation in South Korea. The event was hosted by the World Health Organization and the National Health and Family Commission of China.
As a seasoned researcher with expertise, Dr. Jo has participated in numerous projects. To wit, he served as an associate research fellow at the Korea Health Promotion Institute, where he conducted research and managed the implementation of the Health Promotion Project. Widely published due to his studies, Dr. Jo has contributed professional research papers in his field, as well as in many periodicals, notably including "Changing Aspects of Health Promotion in Korean Medicine: The Past, Present and Future." Backed by several professional memberships that have greatly supported his career, he is presently active with the Society of Korean Medicine, the Korean Medicine Association of Incheon, the Association of Integrative Korean Medicine, the Society of Korean Medicine for Obesity Research, and, among others, the Korean Society of Chuna Manual Medicine for Spine and Nerves.
To achieve his professional goals, Dr. Jo studied at Seoul National University, where he completed a Bachelor of Science in geosystem science in 2001. He later received a Bachelor of Korean Medicine in 2005, a Master of Science in Korean medicine in 2013 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Korean medicine in 2017 at Kyung Hee University. Dr. Jo is a licensed Korean medicine in 2013 and a Doctor of Philosophy in Korean Medicine through Ministry of Health and Welfare, a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine in 2016 at Kyung Hee University. Dr. Jo is a licensed Medical Doctor of Korean Medicine through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and holds an acupuncture license through the State of California Acupuncture Board. In addition to his schooling, he served in the Korean Augmentation to the U.S. Army, which is a branch of the Republic of Korea Army, at U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys in South Korea.
Recognized for his achievements, Dr. Jo received an Appreciation Award from the headquarters at the U.S. Army Support Activity Area III, Camp Humphreys, in 2012. He also earned two Contribution Awards from the president of the Seoul Korean Medicine Association in 2012 and 2013, and a Career Appreciation Award from the president of the association in 2013. Furthermore, Dr. Jo attained the Grand Prize for Outstanding Papers by Kyung Hee University in the college of Korean medicine in 2016.
