With a bachelor's degree in commercial law from the Law School of Peking University and a Master of Science degree in statistics and decision sciences from Duke University, Mr. Shen embarked upon his career in the pharmaceutical industry. After the economic crash in 2008, he gained a new outlook on life and decided to venture into a financial business endeavor for which he always had a passion. Driven to help others achieve their own entrepreneurial dreams, he learned that small business accounts for roughly 70 percent of new jobs in the country. As a serial entrepreneur, Mr. Shen co-founded Long Beach Accelerator, and now serves as the founding partner of Sunstone Management Inc., as well as the chief executive officer of the American Lending Center. Recently Mr. Shen created a new startup in Partake Collective, under the disruptive commercial kitchen concept to lead the way in transforming the operation of restaurant and food services business.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Shen has gained a wealth of expertise in financial services, wealth management, private equity and venture capital. In October 2017 he won the "Coleman SBA 504 Lender of the Year Award", a national award for the best small business lender by Coleman Report. Over the years Mr. Shen's businesses have won multiple national and regional company awards as one of the "Fastest Growing Private Companies" and one of the "Best Places to Work" among others. In addition to his professional duties, he also served as an economic development commissioner for the city of Long Beach, California. Well regarded for his volunteer efforts, he received the "Forever Duke Award" from Duke University in 2015.
Mr. Shen has attributed his standout success to his perseverance, hard work, sacrifices and more importantly a desire to achieve long term sustainable success instead of immediate financial interests. Looking toward the future, Mr. Shen plans to steadily expand financial services to US small businesses and engage more in America's entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem.
