Accumulating 55 years of professional excellence in the legal industry, Mr. Vinar retired from private practice in 2016. From his office in Garden City, his firm found success for three decades. Specializing in commercial and corporate law, as well as negligence, medical, legal and accounting malpractice and real estate, he garnered a reputation for excellence in trial and appellate work. Formerly in private practice from 1961 to 1986, Mr. Vinar practiced with Siff & Newman PC in New York City as a partner and was an associate at Donovan, Leisure, Newton & Irivine.
Mr. Vinar's distinguished record of leadership has included a wealth of research and he has contributed numerous professional articles to professional publications. He is the author of "My Little Life" in 2004 published by Archway Publishers. Written over the course of more than a decade, the book begins with his parents' life in Ostrog, Poland and recounts their struggles in their new life in America.
A dedicated civic citizen, Mr. Vinar was for 25 years as a member of the national law committee of the Anti-Defamation League in New York City between 1975 and 2000. He also volunteered his time as the vice president of YM-YMHA of Northern Queens and the National Council Young of Israel. Greatly invested in the local Jewish community, Mr. Vinar contributed as the president of Young Israel of Queens Valley and Queens Jewish Community Council, and as a board director of the Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty.
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Illinois in 1957 from which he graduated "with high distinction" and is listed on the university's bronze tablet, Mr. Vinar went on to earn a Bachelor of Laws at New York University in 1960. He subsequently joined the military, serving in the 77th Signal Battalion in the U.S. Army on active duty from 1960 to 1961 and in the Reserves between 1961 and 1966. Mr. Vinar was admitted to practice law by the New York Bar Supreme Court, the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, the Supreme Court of the United States and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
As an extension to his professional commitments in the field, Mr. Vinar has been affiliated with several industry-related organizations: he was a member of the American Bar Association, a past chairperson of the appellate practice committee of the Nassau Bar Association, and a past president of the New York University Law Review Alumni Association. Mr. Vinar is a member of the honor society Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Beta Kappa and the Order of the Coif.
