CONWAY, AR, December 16, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Frederic M. Simon has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Following in his dad's and uncle's footsteps, Mr. Simon began working alongside them during childhood and his high school summers and college years. Through his early work, he gained a genuine appreciation for and interest in dairy farming, which led to him pursuing a career in the field. With decades of practiced expertise to his credit, he excels today as one of the owners of the family farm, Simon Bros Dairy LLC, which was started during the late 1930s by his grandfather. As a head of the family business, Mr. Simon oversees daily business operations and ensures his employees' needs are met.
Mr. Simon has hosted farm tours of all kinds for pre-schoolers through college/study abroad students throughout his career; one special guest was U.S Senator Blanche Lincoln, when on the Ag Advisory Board, and then U.S. Representative Tim Griffin during the catastrophic drought of 2012.
An expert in his field, Mr. Simon earned a high school diploma from St. Joseph's of Conway, and then as a Theta Chi Fraternity member and Vice President. He earned a Bachelor of Science in agricultural business from Arkansas Tech University just prior to joining the family business in 1992. Driven to remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligned himself with the Arkansas Dairy Cooperative Association (ADCA) in 1992 to market his milk until ADCA's termination in July 2014. While a member of ADCA, he served in multiple roles including Board Member, Board Treasurer, Finance Committee Member, Nominating Committee Member, Arkansas Dairy Supply Board Member, Southwest Dairy Farmers Advertising & Promotion Board Member, and Arkansas Political Action Committee (CADE – Committee for Arkansas Dairy Education) Member. He remains a member of the Arkansas Farm Bureau, as well as the Arkansas and National Cattleman's Associations.
Mr. Simon was voted by the Conway Jaycees as the Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year (1997-1998). In 2010, he was nominated, elected and served on the Southeast Select Sires, Inc. board of directors. This company is known for the production of bull semen world-wide for the means of artificial insemination of cattle.
In his spare time, he gives back to his community as a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the Church Parish Council, the Church Capital Campaign Committee, and Committee Chairman, Church Usher and Funeral Lunch Vice Chair of the St. Joseph Hook's Fundraiser. He is also president of the local 4H foundation and a member of the board for the Arkansas Tech University Foundation.
He recalls several career highlights; one was The National Cooperative Extension Service tour of dairying in the south. Others include being selected as a delegate by ADCA to speak on milk pricing in Washington, D.C. and then investigating milk processing sales and profits in the northeast for possible joint venture investments. He also served as a guest speaker at dairy promotion events for continuing education of Registered Dieticians at Children's Hospital in Little Rock, AR and being invited to attend a Farmer Panel for food safety and consumer confidence. This all led Mr. Simon to a Dieticians Leadership conference in Chicago where he was a special invitee to discuss U.S. consumer trends and the new generation of eating and food purchasing habits. Mr. Simon is especially proud of standing up to a milk marketing cooperative in the area, Dairy Farmers of America, via a lawsuit. It was a significant milestone for the state to have so few dairy farms left and take a stance against a national conglomerate. Mr. Simon's knowledge and contacts gained as an Arkansas Agriculture Department Board Member and Chairman of the Arkansas Milk Board led to confidence in our judiciary system and confronting lawsuit matters face to face with the Arkansas Attorney General.
In addition to his legal triumphs, he and Simon Bros Dairy were honored as Arkansas Outstanding Farm of the Year in 2007. Looking ahead, Mr. Simon intends to experience the continued growth and success of his career. He aims to expand the farm into a larger location and set the precedent for the next generation of farmers.
