Now retired, Mr. Leichman worked in Albany, New York, for much of his career, during which time he developed a reputation of excellence in finance. Utilizing his expertise as a cost accountant and controller for several firms in both Schenectady and Albany during the late 1950s and 1960s, he became interested in the brokerage business and secured a position as a stockbroker for CBWL-Hayden Stone. After three years, Mr. Leichman found success in several high level positions, including as the senior vice president and a board director for First Albany Corporation from 1973 to 2000, a capital market company headquartered in Albany. He subsequently served in the same capacity for Janney Montgomery Scott from 2001 to 2010, a financial consulting firm.
To prepare for his professional career, Mr. Leichman received a Bachelor of Arts in business administration at the University of Miami in 1959. He was a certified financial planner. A prominent member of the International Association of Financial Panning throughout much of his career, Mr. Leichman served on the board of directors for between 1984 and 1998. Apart from his full-time commitments, he has contributed several articles in local newspapers, through which he has covered an array of topics relevant to his career and expertise.
Long dedicated to his community, Mr. Leichman volunteers with various charities and local clubs. Likewise, he had maintained involvement with the Jewish Federation on the endowment committee, and the Temple Gates of Heaven on the finance committee. Recognized for his success in the financial industry, Mr. Leichman was featured in Money Magazine in the fall of 1987. He was also included in the 1996 Temper Success Stories. Among his avocational interests, he has sat as a board member of both the Colonie and Eastpointe Country Clubs and past president of Shaker Ridge Country Club.
