After witnessing the birth of her younger brother, Dr. Wilson was inspired to pursue a career in medicine. As an African American woman, she has long aspired to serve as a representative for younger generations, who often do not imagine themselves in the medical profession. Prior to embarking upon her professional journey, Dr. Wilson received a Bachelor of Science in biology from Xavier University and a Doctor of Medicine from the College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama.
Dr. Wilson became certified in family medicine through the American Board of Family Medicine and received a license to practice medicine in the state of Alabama. She completed a residency at the University of South Alabama and began her career as a clinical director and physician stationed in North Carolina with the U.S. Navy. Presently, Dr. Wilson serves as a family medicine physician with the navy in Pensacola, Florida.
Specializing in general family medicine, Dr. Wilson manages care for patients ranging in age from birth to 102 years old. In addition to her primary duties, she also performed volunteer work throughout North Carolina. In her career, she was most proud to serve as a clinical director, through which she oversaw five physicians and nearly 7,500 patients.
Dr. Wilson has attributed her professional success to her supportive family and her faith. She maintains her professional affiliation with the American Academy of Family Physicians. In the coming years, Dr. Wilson plans to transition to a smaller practice, where she can continue working with all ages, and dedicate more time to teaching students, as well as more service on behalf of the community.
