Harboring nearly 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Guillory has excelled as a salesman with the Perry Pitre Ford Company in Eunice, Louisiana and a school bus driver for the Saint Landry Parish School Board in Opelousas, Louisiana since 2017. Prior to these appointments, he worked as an ambassador and a sales and marketing representative for Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, Louisiana in 2017. Furthermore, Mr. Guillory flourished as the owner of, and a salesman with, L&R Thomas Enterprise LLC in Basile, Louisiana from 2011 to 2016. His lifelong work goal was to push hard and run while young so that he could slow down at the age of 50 – a goal he has accomplished.
Mr. Guillory previously served as an outside salesman with Environmental and Insulation Services LLC in Eunice from 2007 to 2011. He was additionally active as a salesman with Doug Ashy Building Materials in Rayne, Louisiana from 1996 to 2007. In this position, he became dedicated to improving his knowledge of the field through seminars and sales training. Mr. Guillory began his career as a salesman with Fruge Lumber Company Inc. in Eunice from 1981 to 1996, during which time he attended biannual buying group meetings and was responsible for stocking, ordering materials and pricing to remain competitive with market values. At the beginning, he took an entry level job loading trucks. Then, when a co-worker was transferred, Mr. Guillory asked his boss if he would give him a shot to hire some extra help and give him unlimited hours to straighten out the shop and put things in better order. He succeeded -- the company still uses the methods he devised. Mr. Guillory then jointed Doug Ashy, which doubled his salary and gave him a commission. Mr. Guillory and a few other employees grew the business from 3 to 7 stores. He came to L&R Thomas Enterprise LLC next. He was then sold shares in Environmental and Installation LLC and eventually bought L&R Thomas Enterprise LLC and took off on his own. He put everything he learned into this business.
Before embarking on his professional path, Mr. Guillory pursued his formal education at Basile High School, from which he graduated in 1981. He continued his academic efforts at Louisiana State University Eunice, completing coursework in real estate, construction and estimation, and business law. In addition to these accomplishments, Mr. Guillory concluded his studies with basic computer coursework at the T.H. Harris Campus in Opelousas.
Initially drawn to sales as the field would allow him to work on a part-time basis while attending high school, Mr. Guillory was further inspired by a wealthy business man who had encouraged him with his own "rags to riches" story as well as the potential to succeed within the construction business. Additionally motivated by his parents and his school teachers, he subsequently built a laundromat and cleaners while continually investing his profits, which provided him with a sense of professional freedom. In his spare time, he devotes his time and attention to restoring his 1953 Ford Jubilee tractor and rental properties and he has a motor home in which he likes to travel when he has the time. Mr. Guillory hopes to eventually retire in the coming years.
He has been married for 34 years to a woman who has inspired and motivated him.
