CHEVERLY, MD, December 18, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Edith Amobi, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Amobi celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Amobi is a renowned clinical social worker (MSW), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC 11) whose tenured career began as an Ombusmen with Baltimore city from 1984 through 1986 after her graduation from University of Baltimore with a B.A. and M.A, respectively. She proceeded to work in N.Y City as a case worker with Child and Family Services, Investigating child Abuse and Neglect Cases. Her dedication and skills in child abuse investigation earned her a special recognition to be placed in the Special Sex Abuse Unite. She transitioned to Washington DC where she continued her clinical skills with a Mental Health Company, Coates and Lane, as the Supervisory Clinical Case Manager. Dr. Amobi was amongst the clinicians DC that pioneered mental health initiatives as with the deinstitutionalization from St. Elizabeth Hospital back into the community. For more than a decade Dr Amobi remained in mental health until 2014.
Greatly relishing this opportunity, Dr. Amobi began her clinical practice working in different environments where she felt that she could make more of a difference. A therapist with the young people, teenagers and adults. A clinical director with a company, kids International, providing therapy to children ranging from 3 years old to early adulthood. Dr. Amobi spent another year as a therapist for Consolidated Family Services in Washington DC, The Next Step Drug and Treatment Services, River Side Hospital, United Medical Center and the last but not the least, Capital Community Services. At this time Dr. Amobi stated that she wanted to do more and help more people without the restriction of what individual health insurance is able to provide for so it resulted in her transitioning into the field of Financial Education and Insurance: Family Wealth Accumulation, Wealth and Asset Protection, Building Wealth, College Planning, Debt Management, Saving Before Spending, and teaching How Money Works. Educating and helping people to know facts upon their retirement or those preparing to retire. This transition, Dr. Amobi noted, was one of the best decisions she has ever made.
During the course of her remarkable career in clinical practice, Dr. Amobi began working at a time when there was little to no therapy services for children. Aligned with various organizations, she gained expertise dealing with three-year-old abused children. In time, she successfully found loving homes for all of them. Dr. Amobi's career also included the de-institutionalization of individuals from St. Elizabeth Hospital in D.C. back into their community.
An alumnus of the University of Baltimore, Dr. Amobi completed a Bachelor of Arts in 1985 and a Master of Arts in environmental sociology in 1987. She went to Howard University, where she completed her Master's Degree in Social Work. She continued in clinical practice and later obtained her Doctorate in Social Work.
