ARLINGTON, VA, December 18, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Joseph D. Wawro, Executive Director, JRC, SES, has been inducted into the Marquis Who's Who Registry. Mr. Wawro is the executive director of the Department of Homeland Security Joint Requirements Council (JRC) and Senior Executive Service (SES) member, has been accepted in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Wawro is the current Executive Director of the Department of Homeland Security Joint Requirements Council, building on more than three decades of military and national security leadership. A graduate of Wentworth Military Academy, he joined the United States Army in 1988 as a commissioned Second Lieutenant. In this capacity, Mr. Wawro spent the next 30 years in such positions of high leadership as the Regimental Executive Officer at Fort Polk. Throughout the course of his duties, he has served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and attained the position of Division Operations Officer in Korea, as well as a Brigade Commander at Fort Riley.
Mr. Wawro's work extended into various policy and strategic development roles, such as the Chief of the Initiatives Group for the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, Corps Chief of Staff at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, and the Director for Defense, Policy, and Strategy within the National Security Council, the White House. Responsible for coordinating everything from inter-agency partnerships to training and battle-readiness protocols for service members, he has drawn recognition for his in-depth understanding of disparate areas of military operation and his ability to create thoughtful and wide-ranging procedural solutions inclusive of areas of structural and cultural concern. After his departure from the military in 2018, Mr. Wawro remained passionate about serving his country and considers it an honor to have been selected for a Senior Executive position.
Mr. Wawro looks forward to continuing his work with the Department of Homeland Security, and believes strongly in its mission and the value of service to the Nation. He is heavily decorated for his Army service, including the Defense Superior Service Medal, four Legion of Merits, four Bronze Stars, four Meritorious Service Medals, and an Army Commendation Medal with "V" device. Accounting for his standout success, Mr. Wawro credits serving a cause greater than oneself.
Long committed to public service, Mr. Wawro is active as a volunteer lecturer, talent management consultant, and mentor. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Illinois and a Master of Arts from Embry-Riddle University and the Naval War College. Eminently qualified in his field, Mr. Wawro was selected as a Fellow of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy for the Chief of Staff at the Army.
