BAKERSFIELD, CA, December 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Doug Bennett has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After a fifteen-plus year battle with methamphetamines, Dr. Bennett recovered from his addiction and discovered his calling to go into ministry. In 2009, he founded Magdalene Hope Inc. in an effort to reach out to women working in the commercial sex industry. Through Magdalene Hope, he aims to bring awareness to various social justice issues, including the issues of human trafficking, modern day slavery, and the sexual exploitation of women. As a result of Dr. Bennett's incredible efforts, thousands of women have been transformed through the love of Christ.
Upon rescuing victims of human trafficking, Dr. Bennett and Magdalene Hope offer those in need with a year of sober living and nine months of transitional housing, completely free of charge. The staff at their center work with these victims to help them take back control of their lives and obtain a job, so that they may earn a dignified living and maintain their revenue stream. In addition to his stellar work at Magdalene Hope, he teaches bible study courses and counsels victims. Due to steadfast advocacy, Dr. Bennett was also invited to address the public safety committee of the California State Assembly in 2016 regarding a human trafficking bill.
In a career filled with highlights, Dr. Bennett is especially proud of opening Restoration Ranch in 2013, a home utilized by women wanting to leave the sex industry, as well as establishing numerous branches of Magdalene Hope in Orange County and the central coast of California, Las Vegas, and Tijuana, Mexico. For his professional accomplishments, he was presented with the Individual Humanitarian Award from the Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce in 2016. Notably, Dr. Bennett has personally assisted 120 victims of human trafficking to freedom.
During the years after the inception of Magdalene Hope, Dr. Bennett earned a bachelor's degree in theology in 2011, a master's degree in Christian counseling in 2014, and a doctorate of divinity in 2018. Outside of his primary responsibilities, he contributes to those less fortunate through numerous women's conferences, as well as a charity golf outing and Toys for Tijuana. In light of his life-altering work in the field, he co-produced "The Trafficked Life," a documentary that focuses on human trafficking in Kern County, California. In 2015, the film was screened in more than 15 different cities and was submitted into the Sundance Film Festival. Looking toward the future, Dr. Bennett intends to open additional shelters while continuing to be a voice for the voiceless.
