After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in radio and television broadcasting from the University of Florida, Bradley N. Tennant followed in his father's footsteps to pursue a career in insurance. He recalls his father's enjoyment of going to work every day, working with insureds and training up and coming young claims professionals. In his career, Mr. Tennant worked with Allstate, Marsh, American Home, Lexington and Landmark Insurance companies (AIG) and Reliance. He started Tennant Special Risk in April, l999, and serves as president of Tennant Special Risk in Atlanta, Georgia.
Over the years, he has gained expertise in primary and excess liability insurance. He has worked as an MGU for the Houston International Insurance Group for 10 years. In the twelve years prior to underwriting for HIIG, Tennant Special Risk was an underwriting manager for American Safety, AIX Specialty, USF Insurance and ARTIS.
As a respected insurance professional, Mr. Tennant was inducted into the Underwriters Hall of Fame for business insurance writers in2019. With Tennant Special Risk, he has been most proud of his ability to remain in business as an MGU for 22 years, making significant profits for Tennant's Carrier partners. He attributes his professional success to his faith in and passion for the insurance industry and what it does. In his business, he strives to remain consistent and treat employees as colleagues and valuable assets. He has never forgotten that it is the employees that make any company go forward.
His advice to young professionals pursuing the industry is to remain curious, take risks and be open to opportunities that may arise within the various segments of the industry. Looking toward the future, Mr. Tennant plans to continue growing the company, becoming a leader in catering to the insurance needs of the small to medium size subcontractor.
