Since graduating from high school, Ms. Svetchnikov has aspired to pursue a career in the field of medicine. Drawing inspiration from her aunt, a distinguished neurologist, she resolved to study biochemistry in college. However, after taking a psychology course, she decided to switch majors and received a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Massachusetts. Following this accomplishment, Ms. Svetchnikov became a residential counselor at the Cambridge Eating Disorder Center.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Svetchnikov has worked as a health analyst at Boston Children's Hospital as a social worker and supervisor, and as an in-home therapy clinician and supervisor for the Home for Little Wanderers. After returning to school and obtaining a master's degree in marriage and family therapy, she became the executive director of Longwood Care Inc. Eminently qualified in her field, Ms. Svetchnikov is also a licensed marriage and family therapist and social worker associate.
In her current position, Ms. Svetchnikov offers mental health services for adults and families through outpatient care and telehealth. She uses methods such as the Positive Parenting Initiative to help parents better understand their children's behavior and create positive changes in their interactions. Serving more than 900 clients per month, she oversees the entire organization and supervises all clinicians and managers. As a respected voice in her field, Ms. Svetchnikov has published more than 15 books in the field, and plans to release 15 more in 2020.
For her efforts over the years, Ms. Svetchnikov has been presented with numerous accolades. To wit, she received the President's Lifetime Achievement Award from the administration of President Barack Obama, an Official Citation from Senator Joseph Boncore, and five President's Achievement Awards for community service. Additionally, Ms. Svetchnikov was named as the Business Woman of the Year by the Lynn Chamber of Commerce, and was listed among the 40 Under 40 by the Boston Business Journal. Likewise, she received the Bronze Medal for Female Executive of the Year.
Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Svetchnikov has attributed her professional success to her determination to complete all of her goals. She maintains her affiliation with the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists, and the New England Association for Family and Systemic Therapies. Looking toward the future, Ms. Svetchnikov aspires to expand her the scope of her business, through which she hopes to add in-home services and hire more partners.
