NAPLES, FL, December 22, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ronald L. Rumbaugh has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Driven to become an engineer from a young age, Mr. Rumbaugh earned a Bachelor of Science from the Finlay Engineering College in 1954. The following year, on January 5, 1955, he joined the U.S. Air Force and completed basic training. Over the course of three years, he received training through the U.S. Coast Guard and the Geodetic Survey before being honorably discharged in the summer of 1958. Upon returning home, he received an opportunity to work for Dr. Murray A. Wilson, the owner of Wilson & Company Engineering.
During the latter half of the 1950s and the 1960s, Mr. Rumbaugh gained valuable expertise in engineering before becoming assistant public works director for the City of Miami Beach, Florida, in 1970. As assistant director, he oversaw budget and purchasing. Finally, during the 1980s, he became assistant city manager of Miami Beach, where he handled parks and recreation, warehouse, mechanical maintenance and building maintenance management, and reported to the city manager. After retiring in 1990, he reflected back on his professional work. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is most proud of his work with the director of facilities in Lyons, Kansas, and his work as assistant public works director for Miami Beach.
Throughout his career, Mr. Rumbaugh continued his education, earning several certifications through the military, as well as a computer programming certificate and numerous engineering credentials that were required in his varied positions. Before his retirement, he retained professional alignment with the National Society of Professional Engineers to remain abreast of changes in the field. Looking toward the future, Mr. Rumbaugh intends to enjoy his well-deserved retirement.
