Dr. Brooks has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the fields of education and local government

WASHINGTON, DC, December 22, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Christine Dockery Brooks with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Brooks celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her fields. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Having accrued decades of inimitable expertise, Dr. Brooks has been recognized as having garnered a laudable reputation. She was featured in 2019 as one of the civil servants in the Golden Edition of Profiles in Civil Service: Our Unsung Heroes From all walks of federal government life in which then-Congressman Elijah E. Cummings, Chairman, of the Oversight and Reform Committee said this in the foreword: "The civil servants featured in this 2019 Golden Edition of Profiles have earned our nation's admiration and respect. Personally, and as Chairman of the House committee on Oversight and Reform, I welcome this opportunity to express my gratitude to them-and to each of you-who has served our nation and her people with such selfless distinction. Allow me to share with you a deeply held conviction. There is no vocation more noble and rewarding than a career in public service."

Having grown up in North Carolina as part of a large rural family whose members have been active in many activities and positions around the world, Dr. Brooks was also featured at her historically black undergraduate university (North Carolina Central University) during its Centennial Celebration when it bestowed on her in 2010 its Distinguished Alumni Award.

Dr. Brooks established an early laudable career as a public school teacher; then business university professor and administrator at both Florida A & M University and Fayetteville State University. She went on to serve in gubernatorally appointed positions in Florida at its Department of Labor as the Director of Administrative Services and then for several years as the statewide position as Florida's Bureau Chief of Workers Compensation Rehabilitation.

From there, deciding to make Washington, DC her home, Dr. Brooks has worked with diverse and international populations and in a variety of political settings. She had an exemplary career in the District of Columbia Government as director of its Community Services Block Grant Program. Following that she was the first Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives for the U. S. Department of Education.

Dr. Brooks then served at the U.S. Department of Labor in its Employment Standards Administration and has worked on Capitol Hill with both the Senate and the House where she followed her passion to assist the underserved and worked on issues relating to Child Care; Child Support Enforcement; Community Development and Housing; Welfare Reform; and Workforce Development.

Dr. Brooks is a 20-year member of Zonta International, an organization whose motto is to empower women through service and advocacy; she was a two-time recipient of Outstanding Young Women of America Awards and nominee for Florida's Women Hall of Fame. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Brooks has been cited in the fifth edition of Who's Who in American Education and the 16th edition of Who's Who of American Women.

She is currently an Independent Global Education Consultant, responsible for accrediting career and postsecondary education programs. She and her siblings have established an educational scholarship fund in honor of their parents. This fund makes an annual award to an undergraduate student and a law student who must also provide evidence of community service.
