As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Gibbs, manager of community outreach at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, was recently acquired for his position in 2019. Located just five miles east of downtown Cleveland, the museum is a part of the University Circle neighborhood which boasts 550 acres comprised of educational, cultural and medical institutions. In his role as community outreach manager, Mr. Gibbs oversees community development and engagement and collaborates with various departments to launch and implement community initiatives that will effect positive change. In addition to his daily responsibilities, he also manages a program that allows visitors to receive a museum pass for six free visits through the local library. Since Mr. Gibbs joined the staff last year, the Cleveland Museum went from a 47 percent to 55 percent redemption rate with the museum pass from the library. As an extension of his career, Mr. Gibbs proudly supports various local causes in a volunteer capacity. He has served as a volunteer coordinator for Manna Food from Heaven, a mentor for East Cleveland through the Police Activity League, and was involved with the Kaboom playground builds, a national organization that builds playgrounds for kids in low income communities.
Among other involvement, Mr. Gibbs most notably established Donté's Gift Express in 2013, where he collects and raises funds for gifts that are later distributed throughout the community to those in need during the holiday season. Partnering with the East Cleveland Salvation Army and East Cleveland Police Department, he also relies on a team of volunteers. In 2019 alone, Mr. Gibbs' organization served 600 families in need. Apart from his work with Donté's Gift Express, during the summer of 2020, he and several close friends co-led #Masks4Community which donated over 77,000 reusable cloth masks to the people throughout Greater Cleveland with the support of over 140 volunteers and a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball player. Mr. Gibbs plans to remain active in volunteerism and philanthropy efforts for as long as possible.
Highly educated, Mr. Gibbs is an alumnus of Case Western Reserve University, where he received a Bachelor of Art in sociology in 2010. Continuing his studies on campus, he achieved a Master of Science in social science administration in the Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences and received a certificate in nonprofit management in 2012.
