PHOENIXVILLE, PA, December 31, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Colleen B. Reynolds has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. After earning a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Ursinus College, Mrs. Reynolds began her career at a local newspaper. In this position she interviewed a speech language pathologist for an article she was writing and became so Interested in the discipline that she decided to enroll in graduate school to pursue her Master's degree in that field. She subsequently obtained a Master of Arts from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and began pursuing a doctorate at Temple University. While she was about to write her dissertation on speech development from birth to age three, the program in which she was to collect data was eliminated. Mrs. Reynolds was forced to search for neonatal intensive care unit facilities in which she could complete her studies, at which time she began working for the Crozer Keystone Health System.
Mrs. Reynolds served as the Director of the Dysphagia and Speech Pathology Departments for more than 20 years. In addition, she served as the Assistant Administrative Director for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The next step in her career led her to Phoenixville Hospital where she has remained for the past 6 years. Additional opportunities presented themselves, and she also now serves as the founder and managing partner of Reynolds Develin Speech Services, a private speech pathology practice which provides critical care speech pathology services as well as pediatric through geriatric outpatient services while additionally offering mentoring services for young professionals, Mrs. Reynolds is also an adjunct professor of neurology at West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
As a respected voice In her field, Mrs. Reynolds has contributed several chapters on swallowing disorders, led local dysphagia conferences, presented "Burn Induced Dysphagia "at the Mid-Atlantic Burn Conference, as well as "It's not too late to re-evaluate," "More than Meets the Eye-beyond clinical knowledge of Dysphagia" and "Esophageal Dysphagia," and at state and national speech association conferences. She has also provided numerous hands-on dysphagia Internships to practicing speech pathologists.
For her efforts in her career, Mrs. Reynolds was recognized as an Honors College Outstanding Faculty Recipient at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and has received the "Friends of CSO at WCU" award. Over the years, Mrs. Reynolds has most enjoyed witnessing the progress and success of her patients, taking great pride in knowing that she has made a positive contribution to their quality of life. She has attributed her success to her ability to establish positive connections with her patients, students, and other professionals. Mrs. Reynolds maintains her professional affiliation with the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
