As the director of business development, he is responsible for the management of daily operations at Groves Electrical Services. Mr. Thorp's experience includes six years as superintendent of the engineering, testing and maintenance division, through which he supervised field service personnel and two laboratories.
During the early years of his career, Mr. Thorp garnered valuable expertise in the field as a field services manager for Electric Technologies Inc. between 2001 and 2014. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of heading his division and ensuring that practices, equipment and training are up to standard. Outside of his primary professional efforts, Mr. Thorp contributes to his community as a member of the board for Leadership Hopkins County and the United Way of the Coalfield.
Before embarking on his professional ventures, Mr. Thorp earned an Associate of Arts in applied science from Madisonville Community College in 1998. Subsequently, he became certified as a MSHA high voltage electrician and a level two thermographer in 2010.
