WEST BLOOMFIELD, MI, January 07, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Jay Z. Zhao has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Driven to pursue a career that would be of benefit to others, Dr. Zhao began a career in engineering, culminating in his current role as a technical manager for Joyson Safety Systems in Auburn Hills, Michigan, since 2018 and as a subcommittee leader with the Global Human Body Model Consortium, LLC, since 2006. Additionally, he channels nearly three decades of expertise into his work as an analysis engineer, research scientist, senior development engineer and CAE team leader with TK Holdings, positions he attained in 1997. Prior to obtaining his current roles, he conducted teaching and research in varying roles with the City College of City University of New York, Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University, Hunter College of the City University of New York, and the Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
In pursuit of his dream career, Dr. Zhao earned a Bachelor of Engineering, Master of Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy from the Nanjing University of Science and Technology in 1982, 1984, and 1988 respectively. He also studied a Ph.D. program in Mechanical Engineering through the City College of City University of New York from 1994 to 1996. To remain abreast of changes in the field, he aligns himself with the Society of Automotive Engineers. He was a reviewer of SAE papers.
Throughout his career, Dr. Zhao has awarded two US patents and authored or co-authored one book and more than fifty publications, including SAE Technical Paper 2020-01-0980, "A Human Body Model Study on Restraints for Side-facing Occupants in Frontal Crashes of an Automated Vehicle"; two IRCOBI Conference Papers: IRC-19-52, "Biofidelity Evaluation of GHBMC Male Occupant Models in Rear Impacts"; IRC-16-88, "Comparison of Whole-Body Kinematic Behavior of the GHBMC Occupant Model to PMHS in Far-Side Sled Tests", six papers presented at the International Technical Conference on the Enhanced Safety of Vehicles: "New Passenger Restraints with Adaptivity to Occupant Size, Seating Positions, and Crash Scenarios Through Paired ARD-HM Study", "Axial Dependence of Rotationally-Induced Brain Injuries in Frontal and Oblique Crashes", "Correlation Between THOR BrIC and TBI Risk from Full Body Human Model", "Study of Compression-Related Lumbar Spine Fracture Criteria Using a Full Body FE Human Model", "Modeling and Prediction of Occupant Knee-Thigh-Hip Injuries" and "Biomechanical Analysis of Hard Tissue Responses and Injuries with Finite Element Full Human Body Model."
For his outstanding body of work, Dr. Zhao has been honored many times, earning the Humboldt Research Fellowship Award through the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation, an Outstanding Performance of Tutoring Award through the Hunter College of the City University of New York and a Special Achievement Award through the Automotive Systems Laboratory, Inc. Looking forward, Dr. Zhao intends to continue working for Joyson Safety Systems while expanding upon his expertise.
