A business that evolved out of his own desire to publish, Mr. Gannon's first hardbound book, "I Walked in Santa's Boots," is a coffee table autobiography about his many years as the Beaufort Santa Claus. Recognized with induction into the Beaufort County Library Historic District Collection, he has also authored numerous other books, including "Murders in Two's and Threes" with Cyndi Williams-Barnier in 2012. In the years since, Ms. Williams-Barnier and he have written 10 additional books together in their murder-mystery "Task Force" series and paranormal "InSpectre" series, including "The Latrodectus Murders," which received a Five Star Rating from Readers Favorite LLC, and "The Task Force That Saved Christmas" in 2019. Mr. Gannon is currently working on the next "Task Force" book, as well as his first children's book, which are expected to be released in 2021.
Mr. Gannon previously excelled for nearly 25 years in a management role with The Beaufort Gazette and The Island Packet. He further thrived as a motor route delivery carrier and intern reporter during the prior 10 years. His wealth of experience in print media is what notably leveraged his abilities to successfully operate as YBR's production manager today. The current chairman of the liturgy committee and proclaimer ministry chair at Saint Peter's Catholic Church in Beaufort, Mr. Gannon is particularly proud to have been the Beaufort Santa Claus for more than 20 wonderful years, bringing joy to the children before retiring his suit in 2015 due to ongoing medical issues.
Mr. Gannon notably graduated from Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in communications in 1983. He remains active as a member of the Independent Book Publishers Association, the South Carolina Writers Association and the Greater Bluffon Chamber of Commerce. He is also noted for his creation of a designer base logo for the U.S. Naval Hospital in Beaufort.
