Mr. Sasso has distinguished himself as an accomplished real estate executive whose career dates back to 1966, whereupon he was first hired by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as a real estate representative. Presently, he is the proud owner of Sasso Commercial Real Estate Services Ltd. and the executive vice president of Knight Properties LLC. He has also served as the vice president and branch manager for Cushman & Wakefield Inc. since 1980, a premier real estate agency on Long Island. Acquired in 1979, he was responsible for helping to establish a regional office for the New York-based commercial real estate firm. Among other noteworthy roles, Mr. Sasso distinguished himself as a real estate director for two Fortune 500 companies. He also co-founded Sasso & Fitzsimons Inc. with his colleague, Ed Fitzsimons, in 1995, which formed a joint venture with Insignia/ESG also in 1995. Mr. Fitzsimons was named as the director of Cushman & Wakefield just two years prior.
Likewise active in the field of academia, Mr. Sasso taught courses as an adjunct professor at Hofstra University and Long Island University (LIU). He also chaired the Real Estate Practitioners Institute at LIU and was a trustee for the Henry Viscardi School, a school for severely disabled students. Inspired by his own positive attitude and outlook on life, Mr. Sasso realized from an early age that all of his endeavors, no matter how small, would play an instrumental role in his success. While working for the Port Authority, he notably had the opportunity to become involved in numerous administrative tasks, which dramatically expanded the real estate market. He was also assigned to the World Trade Center project during 1966, which was a considerable honor.
Apart from his obligations at work, Mr. Sasso has enjoyed contributing to his community. He is the former chairperson of the Hempstead Industrial Development Agency, a nonprofit public benefit agency that assists qualified businesses relocate, expand and build locally, and the Hempstead Local Development Corporation. He is also a former trustee, police commissioner and chairperson of the ethics committee and is co-chairperson of the Long Island Business Development Council. Among other roles, Mr. Sasso remains involved with the New York Real Estate Board and was a longtime business manager and participant of the Long Island Sunrisers Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Sasso studied business administration at Hofstra University between 1968 and 1976. He is also a licensed real estate broker. Celebrated for his success, Mr. Sasso received several accolades, including a Unit Citation Award from the Port of Authority of New York and New Jersey, several Nassau County and Town of Hempstead Citation Awards, and a Long Island New Executive Focus Award. He was also recognized by the Long Island Business and Development Council with a Spirit of Long Island Award, where he was inducted into its Hall of Fame.
