After receiving a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a Master of Science in health care administration, both from Trinity University, Mr. Evans pursued a career in hospital administration. He was inspired by his peers, who also pursued the field, because he thought it would be a good business decision. He began his career in various positions in hospital administration with Humana, Inc., and subsequently became regional vice president of Brookwood Health Services in 1979. He then worked as senior vice president of the Hospital Management Association from 1980 to 1981, COO of American Healthcare Management, Inc. since 1985, administrator and executive director of Alamo City Medical Group & Gonzaba Medical Group for seven years, and regional chief executive officer of IPC Healthcare from 2010 to 2016.
Today, Mr. Evans serves as owner of Avante Healthcare Consulting, a company he founded in 2005. In his current position, he provides consulting services to physicians and medical groups. He directs the marketing, operations and financial aspects of the group, and he cultivates relationships with hospitals and other medical providers. In addition, he also serves as the administrator of Deborah Levi Lane, LCSW, PLLC, his wife's psychotherapy practice.
In his career, Mr. Evans has been most proud of his ability to develop successful hospitals, medical businesses, and business relationships. As a respected voice in his field, he has written for a number of medical magazines on health care consulting and practice management. Outside of his work, Mr. Evans has been civically active with the Learning Disabilities Association of America, Leadership Asheville, the Area Health Education Center, the Mental Health Association, the Chamber of Commerce, and the American Heart Association.
Mr. Evans has maintained professional affiliation with the San Antonio Medical Group Management Association, the Texas Hospital Association, the North Carolina Hospital Association, the Central Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Association, the Federation of American Hospitals, and the North American Association of Private Psychiatric Hospitals. He has attributed his professional success to hard work, perseverance, and his ability to work with others. Looking toward the future, Mr. Evans plans to work more at his wife's clinical therapy practice.
