Esteemed as a brilliant artist, Mr. Palovich has been creating masterpieces for over 50 years. After teaching at the Art Institute of San Antonio from 1960 to 1962 and after teaching and supervising at Akron Art Museum in Ohio for another year, he and his family moved to Colorado as he emerged as not only a clay artist, but painter, sculptor, and printmaker as well. It was during this time that he worked for Salem Towne sculpture factory creating small sculpture designs for the gift trade. Settling in Arizona, Mr. Palovich has subsequently found success with teaching ceramics independently at several local recreation centers in Sun City and Sun City West since 1988 and for the last seven years, drawing at various venues around the West Valley.
Mr. Palovich has also served as an assistant curator and curator for the West Valley Art Museum in Peoria, Arizona for many years as well as a demonstrator of pottery and sculpture and a juror for the Arizona Public Schools. He is currently active as an independent online instructor and was a member of the grant review panel for the Arizona Commission of the Arts in Phoenix. Until his retirement from museum work, Mr. Palovich was affiliated with the National Association of Museum Exhibitors.
Working on ceramic art works closely with his late wife, Janet, throughout much of his career, Mr. Palovich has taught numerous private classes in his private studio, TriPal Arts Studio. The pair had additionally participated in several exhibits together, through which they showcased their drawings, paintings, and ceramics. Among his many prominent pieces, Mr. Palovich was incredibly proud to produce a ceramic screen on which he collaborated with his wife for a McDonald's restaurant in Akron where he had once worked as a manager to supplement his income.
Mr. Palovich's works have been displayed in one-man shows at such locations as the Toledo Museum Art, the Witte Museum in San Antonio, and the Eleven East Ashland Gallery in Phoenix. He was further featured in two man shows with his wife at the Canton Art Institute in Canton, Ohio, the McNay Art Institute in San Antonio, and Ashland, Ohio College Art Gallery. Additionally, Mr. Palovich's artwork has been selected for inclusion in numerous public and private collections over the years.
Drawing with crayon and pencil since he was a young boy, Mr. Palovich was quickly acknowledged by his teachers in grade school and high school for his talent. Upon graduating, he was accepted to the University of Toledo, from which he received a bachelor's degree in 1960. Pursuing additional studies, Mr. Palovich earned a Master of Fine Art in pottery and ceramic sculpture at Kent State University in 1965.
Renowned for his cat, doll and flowered figure painting series, Mr. Palovich recently completed an abstract series, which is based on a musical theme. In 2011, he and his wife were honored with a retrospective exhibition of fifty years of ceramic work at Glendale Community College in 2011, followed by a second retrospective in painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, and dolls at the West Valley Art Museum in 2019. Likewise, his works have been recognized with awards as Best in Show at the West Valley Art Museum in 2018 and Best in Mixed Media at the West Valley Art Museum in 2019. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Palovich has been celebrated in the 27th edition of Who's Who in the West.
