Dr. Yassa, the founder and CEO of Speech Morphing Systems, Inc. since 2010, is distinguished for his efforts in high-tech, and more recently bearing a specific focus on the speech communications sector. Speech Morphing (Speechmorphing) is primarily driven to re-create natural sounding human voices for automated services. These synthesized voices are a new technology in the rapidly growing field of Natural Language Speech Synthesis – widely sought for customer service based companies such as banks and mobile phone carriers. Other market application examples are found in, but not limited to, entertainment, automated news casts, gaming, robotics and digital personal assistants.
Dr. Yassa received a Bachelor of Engineering, electronics and communications from Cairo University, Egypt in 1974 and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Ain Shams University in Egypt in 1976. Upon his arrival to the United States in 1978, he obtained a Master of Science in mathematics from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1979 and a Ph.D. in Electronics from West Virginia University in 1983. Dr. Yassa additionally holds an Executive-MBA from the AEA/Stanford Executive Institute in 1999. Prior to all this, Dr. Yassa attended the prominent educational Jesuites French institution "College de La Sainte Famille" in Cairo, Egypt for his elementary through high school education.
Prior to establishing his current company, Dr. Yassa was the founder and CEO of Yvent Networks from 2002 to 2010. He previously served from 2000 until 2002 as the senior director of engineering and strategy at Neomagic Corporation and from 1999 to 2000 excelled as the director of product management at Pulsent Corporation. Preceding this appointment, he found success as the director of multimedia designs at Synopsys Incorporated, Motorola Semiconductor in Geneva-Switzerland, and STMicroelectronics in Grenoble-France between 1992 and 1999. Dr. Yassa's inaugural position in the field was as a manager at General Electric from 1985 until 1992, as well as a professor at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania for two years 1983 to 1985.
In the course of his career, Dr. Yassa was granted more than 42 U.S. and European patents and published 35 papers which have proliferated internationally, as well as under the auspices of Speech Morphing. He has also received an Outstanding Student Council award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) at Bucknell University and, notably, holds a fifth degree black belt in Korean martial arts as well as a private pilot license. Additionally, Dr. Yassa is a life Senior member of IEEE and is involved with the Coptic Orthodox Orphanage for Girls in Cairo. He attributes his success to those he is closest to, as well as his own persistence and hardworking spirit.
