MATAWAN, NJ, January 18, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Helmut Mrozik with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Mrozik celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Retiring in 1993, after having amassed more than 30 years of professional excellence as an organic chemist, Dr. Mrozik spent the last eight years of his career as a senior scientist at Merck, Sharp, and Dohme Research Laboratories in Rahway, New Jersey. First hired by Merck in 1960, his distinguished record of leadership also included positions as a senior research chemist, research fellow and senior research fellow. As a seasoned scientist, Dr. Mrozik has contributed approximately 55 articles and reviews to various scholarly journals. He also holds over 60 patents in his field.

Best known for his work in parasitology, Dr. Mrozik garnered a reputation for his contributions to the 15-year Ivermectin project. The revolutionary antiparasitic potency and safety of Ivermectin allowed the treatment of thousands of African patients infected with a filarial parasite and saved them from the blindness caused by this parasite. This was recognized in 2015 with a Nobel Price in Physiology and Medicine granted to two of his coworkers Omura and Campbell. Dr. Mrozik was also involved with endo- and ectoparasitic infections of farm and companion animals as part of the medicinal chemistry research group at Merck, and was instrumental in the development of Rafoxanide, Clorsulon and Eprinomectin.

After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Mrozik attained a Doctor of Philosophy in organic chemistry at the University of Basel in Switzerland in 1958. He subsequently spent 22 months as a postdoctoral research assistant at Columbia University between 1959 and 1960. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Mrozik has been cited in the 24th edition of Who's Who in the East.
