Pedruzzi with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Pedruzzi celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. A devoted and passionate public and Catholic school teacher of nearly 40 years, Ms. Pedruzzi concluded her tenure in 2010. She then spent several years teaching long term substitutions and regular assignments in schools that were in need of certified teachers. In summers she worked for a local hotel as a reservations clerk during 2001, and was an actress and costumer for the Wichita Center for the Arts between 2004 and 2011. Returning to the classroom in 2019, she was recruited by West Elk Junior/Senior High School in Howard, Kansas, where she teaches Spanish.
Some of Ms. Pedruzzi's noteworthy achievements over the years have included coaching her students in competitions to qualify for state championships in Individual Speech and Drama Events as well as one act plays as well as assisting them in qualifying for the nationals. She was also personally invited to perform plays at the National Thespian Conference on four occasions between 1985 and 1994. Aligning her talents with her community, Ms. Pedruzzi has become active as a volunteer usher and costumer for the Music Theater of Wichita. She has been serving as an actress, sound and light tech, props and costumes coordinator, concessions volunteer and director for several Community Theaters in the Wichita and surrounding towns since 1997.
Ms. Pedruzzi studied at Benedictine University, where she acquired a Bachelor of Arts in history with minors in Spanish and theater in 1967. She then served in the Peace Corps in Brazil, teaching English between 1967 and 1971 before ultimately receiving a Master of Arts in Communications at Wichita State University in 1982. She is certified in theater, speech, drama, English and Spanish.
Among her professional memberships, Ms. Pedruzzi is active with the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages and The Educational Theater Association. Honored for her accomplishments in the arts, she received the Mary Jane Teal Award for Outstanding Work in Theater in Wichita.
