For nearly 45 years, Ms. Reed has excelled in a number of corporate roles in accounting and finance, higher education and entrepreneurship. More recently, she founded ThunderEcho Drum Company in Medina to support her son Kevin's invention. A talented drummer, Kevin is the creator of The Trash Kat™, a patented musical drum that has been in production since 2001 and has since accrued overwhelming success and national sales. ThunderEcho is notable as a testament to Kevin's long and intense journey to recovery after suffering a catastrophic, traumatic brain injury at his former job.
Additionally, Ms. Reed has worked in property management as the vice president of 318 Ventures LLC since 2007. In previous years, she found success as the band manager of her son's band, the Kevin Reed Band, between 1996 and 2003. She also flourished for several years as a disability resource consultant, teacher and writer. Moreover, Ms. Reed has taught business courses at Cuyahoga Community College in Parma, Ohio, the University of Akron in Ohio and served on the full-time faculty as assistant professor at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.
Early in her career, Ms. Reed garnered valuable experience as a senior assistant accountant for Deloitte in Cleveland and corporate auditor for White Motor Corporation. She also held several administrative roles in the field, including as a controller for local non-profits. As an extension of her career in accounting, she provided her expertise on the Ohio CPA Journal Editorial Advisory Board from 1992 to 1996 and as the assistant editor from 1997 to 1999. Currently, Ms. Reed is the editor of the Medina County Amateur Radio Club News Beacon since 2017.
Supporting her local community, Ms. Reed chaired the Trinity High School reunion committee, was vice chairman of the Committee for Advanced Education in Brunswick, Ohio, and a member of the accounting curriculum advisory committee for Lorain County Community College. She also served on the board of directors of the Greater Cleveland Brain Injury Coalition.
A graduate of Baldwin Wallace College where she was a member of Delta Mu Delta, a business honor society, Ms. Reed initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration, magna cum laude, in 1977. She later obtained a Master of Business Administration in the Executive Program at Case Western Reserve University in 1983 before completing postgraduate coursework at Cleveland State University between 1991 and 1995. A retired certified public accountant in Ohio, Ms. Reed holds an amateur radio extra class license and an ETA certification as a photovoltaic installer.
Ms. Reed has maintained her membership with several industry-related organizations, including the American Society of Women Accountants, with which she was notably appointed as the president of the Cleveland chapter from 1993 to 1994. She has also been active in multiple capacities with the Institute of Management Accountants, the American Accounting Association and the Ohio Society of CPAs. Ms. Reed was additionally affiliated with the Ohio Brain Injury Association as the former vice president, the Medina County Writers Group as the former vice president, and has been serving as president of the Medina County Amateur Radio Club since 2017.
Recognized for her civic duty, Ms. Reed accepted the Bridge Builder Award from the Society for Handicapped Citizens of Medina County in 2013. She was also honored for the Ham of the Year by the Northern Ohio Amateur Radio Society in 2014. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Reed has been featured in over 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
