Marquis Who's Who Honors William John Reinke with Inclusion in Who's Who in the World

Mr. Reinke is a retired attorney currently serving as counsel to the firm Barnes & Thornburg and Predecessors

GRANGER, IN, January 22, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to honor William J. Reinke, JD, with inclusion in Who's Who in the World. An accomplished listee, Mr. Reinke celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With sixty years of professional law practice under his belt, Mr Reinke now serves as retired "of counsel" with Barnes &Thornburg in South Bend, where he also was elected to serve as a member of the firm's Management Committee and as the chair of the Compensation Committee as well as associate and partner. Prior to starting in the field of law, he served as a sergeant with the United States Fifth Army Management Planning Unit in Chicago. In a career filled with highlights, he is especially proud of a trial he was involved with regarding inverse condemnation, the first of its kind to be filed in Indiana. He had a client whose neighbor's land was taken by the state and the remaining streets were rerouted in such a way that his client's backyard became his front yard. The client attempted to get money from the state, and when they refused, he filed a successful lawsuit.

Mr. Reinke now enjoys retirement after more than four decades of practice with Barnes & Thornburg, a South Bend-based firm that he helped to establish in 1957. He graduated, with honors, from Wabash College, where his interest in the law was sparked by a class in English institutional history, and was awarded a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1955 by the University of Chicago Law School. Mr. Reinke was admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana, and has argued cases in both trial and appellate courts at the federal level. Prior to embarking upon his legal career, he proudly served to the rank of a sergeant in the management planning unit of the machine records division of the U.S. Army.

A member of the American Bar Association, Mr Reinke holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College and a J. D. (Juris Doctorate) degree, earned through use of a full-tuition national scholarship, from the University of Chicago Law School.

In 1961, after four years of practice as an associate of Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. Reinke became a partner of the firm. He would remain active in this capacity until 1996, including terms of service as the chairperson of both the compensation and management committees. Since 1996, Mr. Reinke has remained of counsel to the firm, while shifting his focus toward a career in writing. He has authored two books in his 90th year: A Hoosier Trial Lawyer's NOTEBOOK (subtitled "40 Years at the Bar in Indiana"), 2019 and "Random Thoughts of a Hoosier Trial Attorney (2020).

Among Mr. Reinke's greatest professional triumphs, he is most proud of the precedent-setting inverse condemnation suit expanding the rights of property owners in nontraditional eminent domain proceedings in the state of Indiana. He has maintained an outstanding record of service to his community, acting as a trustee of the First Methodist Church and the Stanley School, the president of his local chapter of the Salvation Army and a board director of the South Bend Civic Theatre, NABE Michiana Chapter, the United Way and others. Well regarded for his indelible contributions, Mr. Reinke has been presented with such accolades as a Wabash College Richard O. Ristine Award, a Lifetime Fellow of the St. Joseph County Bar Foundation and recognition as the South Bend Boss of the Year in 1979. He remains affiliated with the Indiana State Bar Association, the American Judicature Society and the Indiana Bar Foundation, and is a lifetime board member of the Salvation Army.
