Influenced by her grandmother, who was also a singer, Ms. Marriott started taking voice lessons in the fifth grade. She has served as vice president of First Media since 1972, demonstrating unparalleled tenacity in her field. She has been honored with multiple awards in her field, including the University of Utah's Camerata Award and the Alaska Arts Festival's Opera Theatre Award, as well as a Special Award from Opera International. She was also recognized with the Washington Performing Arts Society's Achievement in Arts Award, a Lakes Region Art Council Award, Plein Air Art Show exhibitions, as well as awards from the National Red Cross and the ALS Association.
Ms. Marriott draws upon an extensive educational background. Initially earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Utah in 1962, she went on to study voice at the Longy School of Music in Boston. She notably went on to complete the Patti and Allan Herbert Frost School of Music Program in Salzburg, Austria, studied opera at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria, and participated in the Alaska Summer Arts Festival, as well as the Amalfi Coast Festival in Italy. Furthermore, she has studied at the International Design School in Cambridge. She has given vocal master classes at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley Universities, among other venues.
Notably, Ms. Marriott has performed at several domestic and international venues, including The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Strathmore Hall, Boston's Symphony Hall and with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on several live international broadcasts. She has had numerous leading roles with the Washington Savoyards and at local embassies, and participated in Opera International's Gala Concert. Additionally, she performed with the United States Air Force Symphony Orchestra, the Heifetz International Music Institute, the Great Waters Festival Orchestra and various overseas programs in Israel and Argentina. Alongside her musical work, Ms. Marriott currently helps individuals make decisions pertaining to investments and capital.
Ms. Marriott belongs to numerous organizations in her field in light of her accomplishments and expertise. She lives by the phrase, "In God we trust, onward and upwards, carry on," in her endeavors. Looking back on a career that has spanned nearly five decades, she is proudest of raising a family who is able to give back to the community. Nancy is married to Richard E. Marriott. She is the mother of four daughters, Julie, Sandy, Karen and Mary Alice. She has 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is proudest of having raised daughters who are productive members of society and have kept their faith strong in raising their families and dealing with others. Moving forward, Ms. Marriott hopes to continue serving others for as long as she is able.
