While working in corporate America in the software industry, Ms. Roundtree found that she was not satisfied with the course of her career. Driven by a lifelong love of food, she decided to establish Fannie Cakes Café in 2001. She prides herself on the café's inviting atmosphere, noting that it feels like walking into your grandmother's kitchen with the scent of fresh baked goods. In addition to providing quality Southern Cajun food with a twist, she also offers a range of breakfast dishes, chocolate walnut brownies, stuffed banana pudding cupcakes and "Little Fannie" cakes in various flavors, including lemon cream cheese, strawberry cream and sweet potato. For her engaging atmosphere and delectable dishes, she was featured in the Gaston Gazette in 2017.
Over the years, Ms. Roundtree also gained valuable professional experience as an information specialist with the Georgia Department of Driver Services between 2013 and 2015 and as an assistant pastry chef with the Druid Hills Golf Club from 2002 to 2003. Trained in various fields, she holds a certification in culinary arts and related services through The Atlanta Collaborative Kitchen and a certification in website design from Atlanta Technical College, which she earned in 2015.
Throughout her career, she has achieved much. However, she is most proud of moving her business to a new city in 2017. Looking toward the future, Ms. Roundtree aims to franchise Fannie Cakes Café and bring others on board so that they can carry on her legacy.
