REVERE, MA, January 27, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Olivia Ann Ferrante has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After being born four months early at just two pounds, Ms. Ferrante developed visual impairments, which influenced her career choices later in life. While pursuing her Bachelor of Arts at Regis College during the late 1960s, she obtained a summer job as an aide at the Perkins School for the Blind, which had a master's degree program in teaching blind students. The following year, she applied to the program and furthered her education. Subsequently, she completed a Master of Education from Boston College in 1971 and gained valuable expertise as chairperson of the Braille Department for the National Braille Press.
Throughout her career, Ms. Ferrante completed postgraduate education with Middlebury College, Boston College and Lesley University. For almost 20 years, she excelled as a traveling teacher of the visually impaired at more than 50 schools before retiring in the early 1990s. Upon her retirement, she began serving as a member of the Steven J. Rich Scholarship Committee in 1993 and as a consultant with the Revere PTA in 1984, both roles she maintains today. Although her career has been filled with highlights, she is most proud of submitting several proposals to her local government, including audio pedestrian signs in front of City Hall, a police sub-station in her neighborhood and brighter lights on her streets, which were later accepted.
A certified history teacher and teacher of the blind, Ms. Ferrante aligns herself with the Revere Society for Cultural and Historical Preservation. In previous years, she maintained affiliation with the National Education Association, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the Revere Teachers Association, the National Catholic Association for Persons with Visual Impairment and the National Writers Union. In addition to her work as a consultant, she gives back to her community as a publicist with the Animal Umbrella Cat Shelter, lecturer for the Revere Commission on Disabilities, mentor with the Braille Institute of America, and member of The Catholic League, the Center for Marine Preservation, and the Boston Public Garden and Common.
Due to her vast expertise, Ms. Ferrante was featured in the Revere Journal and contributed to a plethora of articles in professional journals. For her professional accomplishments, she was honored in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America. In the coming years, Ms. Ferrante intends to continue serving as a consultant with the Revere PTA.
